Dr. Laurie R. Weiss
Serving the San Mateo and San Francisco CA area, Dr. Weiss has over 22 years of experience. She has special expertise working with young children and she has worked with children of all ages throughout her career. She works with parents, couples and individuals as as part of her practice to balance out the work with children. In addition to clinical work she has been teaching Clinical Psychology. She worked for InnVision Shelter Network supervising interns working with homeless parents and their children. Dr. Weiss worked at the University of California Medical Center at San Francisco, Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute as Clinical Faculty. At UCSF she supervised child, adolescent, and adult doctors in training on their child and adolescent cases. She has been working with Psychologists in training for many years, supervising them in child, adolescent and adult psychotherapy. She has taken these interns through the process of getting licensed. She presented at the International Psychiatric Summit in Changsha on Child and Adolescent Psychology.
Her focus in teaching is on Play Therapy and Psychodynamic Theory.
Dr. Weiss’s general approach to therapy draws from psychodynamic, behavioral and attachment theories. When working with adults, she is influenced by Jungian Typology and dream analysis as well. Dr. Weiss brings integrity, experience and deep caring to her work.
